Reports have indicated that the number of handphone-using motorists are increasing over the years, for both drivers and motorcyclists. I myself am supportive of this rule, since it's imposed, but seriously is it really necessary? Is talking on the phone and driving really that dangerous? I don't think so. It's not as if you are cooking an egg and driving, y'know what I mean? Maybe it's even safer when you're using your handphone and driving because then you're extremely focused on actually driving safely, and not a shred of complacenecy comes into the equation. Has anyone ever thought of that? Maybe not.
And the rule that states you can't hold onto your mobile phone with one hand and drive with the other hand is an even bigger joke. How come you can hold (and eat) a lollipop with one hand but not a mobile phone? Doesn't seem to make sense. And can we have a rule that's actually enforceable? I've seen too many jokers using the mobile phone while driving, and a police is nowhere to be found. Perhaps that's why a recent survey done showed that something like 80% of the people know it's wrong but still continue doing it. The fact that other countries also practise this rule (to certain extents) show that there's international stupidity over this one. Or maybe countries are just copying one another blindly. Which is even stupider.
