Was quite sad to read recently about the passing of Ric Ocasek, lead singer of the band The Cars; from cardiovascular disease. The Cars are most famous for their hit song 'Drive'; a near-ubiquitous song in the '80s that almost everyone would have heard of: an iconic, legend-defining song that was in just about all the '80s charts & hit compilations. It also appeared in a CD I bought; interestingly titled 'The Greatest Hits to Drive To'...
The interesting thing about the song is that it wasn't actually sung by Ocasek; but by the other singer Benjamin Orr... it is a great song and I love it... it somehow melds a smooth melody in a melancholic yet enchanting way... haunting in its brilliance almost... a unique blend of wistfulness and longing that is quite brilliant...
