This was primed to be a close match: Manchester United; a team seemingly in decline and at a loss on both their philosophy & leadership; and Leicester City, going well under Brendan Rodgers, unbeaten in the season and looking good enough to penetrate the Big Six...
The match played out as such; a close, nervy, combative affair that saw robust tackles (notably from Man Of The Match Scott McTominay) and even frayed-out tempers near the end involving McTominay, Caglar Soyuncu & Ben Chilwell.
It was the Turkish central defender Soyuncu who made the clumsy challenge on Marcus Rashford inside the box in the eighth minute that gave away the penalty... after good work on the right by Andreas Pereira to win a 50-50 ball... rather uncharacteristic from the Turkish man considering his bright start to the season so far... Rashford then dispatched the penalty with cool aplomb... considering the recent 'penalty-Gate' incident involving both himself & Paul Pogba.
Both teams had chances as the match went on... with both teams struggling to get a proper foothold on the game... with England international James Maddison looking influential down the Leicester left & Rashford hitting the bar with a well-taken free-kick...
But in the end... it was Man United who laboured rather nervously to get this much-needed three points... it was probably a game that both teams would be relatively happy with... Man United to overcome a tough obstacle: a well-oiled, high-flying Leicester side (keeping a clean sheet in the process)... and for the visitors, well it's certainly not a serious crime to lose 1-0 at Old Trafford...
