Barnes-storming Win for Leicester

Harvey Barnes produced a Man-Of-The-Match performance; as Leicester City ended their recent dodgy run in emphatic fashion; with a 4-0 victory over relegation-threatened Aston Villa at King Power Stadium.

Villa started the match OK; but as has been the recurring theme throughout the season; bad defensive woes again proved their undoing. The important first goal was conceded in almost comical fashion; as ex-Liverpool legend Jose Reina inexplicably raced out of his area to try and clear a through ball when it was never on... cue Barnes who strode on expertly to finish past a diving Tyrone Mings into the open goal.

Midway through the second half; Mings was rather unfairly judged for hand-ball in the box when he dove to block a Barnes cross; I actually thought it came off his shoulder rather than arm; but the question was; why did he dive in that way in the first instance? Another strange piece of defending. Jamie Vardy; on for Kelechi Iheanacho; duly put away the penalty confidently to make it 2-0.

Things got from bad to worse for Villa; as another slack piece of defending from the tired Frederic Guilbert allowed Vardy to find space and rifle in a half-volley at the near post. And the icing on the cake came when Barnes; so effervescent throughout the night; got his second after a superb team move ended with fellow winger Marc Albrighton finding him in the box.

Overall; a brilliant win for Leicester that sees them consolidating their 3rd position in the league. For Villa though; their defensive problems & naivety continue through the season and they are now looking in serious danger of being relegated after just coming up this season.
