Barcelona pulled level at the top of La Liga with Real Madrid after this hard-fought 2-1 win over Champions League contenders Getafe at Camp Nou. It was a well-deserved win for the home side; as they got back to their passing swagger after a rather turbulent period both on and off-field.
They faced a scare against La Liga's surprise side though; when Cameroon defender Allan Nyom put the ball in the net from a corner midway through the first half. Upon closer VAR inspection through; it was clear that he had deliberately fouled Samuel Umtiti in the lead-up to the goal; thus being correctly disallowed.
Shortly after, Barca took the lead after another brilliant assist from Lionel Messi; who played an instinctive through-ball for Antoine Greizmann to finish coolly past David Soria in the Getafe goal. Things got even better for them shortly after; when right-back Sergi Roberto finished an expert team move from left-back Junior Firpo's cut-back.
To their credit, Getafe never gave up; and when substitute Angel Rodriguez pulled one back with a superb volley on 66 minutes; there were moments when Barca looked like they were hanging on. But hang on they did; and they can now look to finish the rest of the season in much better shape.
