Barcelona edged past Real Sociedad 1-0 through a debatable VAR-inspired penalty converted by Lionel Messi. But for large parts of the game; it was pretty even stevens as the recent Copa del Rey finalists proved their new-found confidence & demeanor.
Martin Braithwaite was handed his full debut for Barca and he impressed; with his pace & verve proving the starting point for many a Barca attack in this game. For Sociedad; I was impressed with Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard; as well as captain Mikel Merino & substitute Mikel Oyarzabal.
There is a growing sense that Barcelona's recent matches have more to do with industry than inspiration; and that was certainly the case again in this one.
