Long Way Home

A Dog's Way Home
is a 2019 movie about a dog named Bella; and how she is found by her owner Lucas from a dilapidated construction site; enjoys the good life; before threatening to be impounded by an unfortunate law in Denver that restricts pitbulls (of which she looks like one).

Through a queer sequence of events; she opts to 'find her way home' while waiting for her owners to find a suitable place outside of Denver; leading to an adventure-chasing; rip-roaring two-year journey to finally find her way back to her rightful owner.

Through that journey; she encounters just about everything a stray dog can find: trekking through miles and miles of dogged terrain (whilst seemingly going nowhere); stealing meat from a supermarket for food; getting hunted by a pack of coyotes; befriending a 'Big Kitten' and helping mother it; getting chained to a dead man; meeting a whole pack of dog 'friends'; who each have their own home (except her); saving a camping man from an avalanche; almost getting re-united thanks to a group of friendly campers; meeting a nice gay couple but eventually having to leave and 'find her own way'; and getting her paw injured in a chaotic traffic accident.

The film is filled with tender moments; such as the tear-jerking moment when she has to leave 'Big Kitten' to go on their rightful way after being re-united; and the never-to-be-forgotten moment when she finally ends up at the VA hospital to be re-united with Lucas. It teaches about the joy of family; the spirit of companionship and the never-ending loyalty of a dog.
