Cristiano Ronaldo has made history by becoming the first billion-dollar man in football history. I suppose if there was a man to do it; it is he. Blending an incomparable mix of skill; hard-work and charisma; he has bolstered his coffers with mega-salaries at storied clubs such as Manchester United; Real Madrid and Juventus; while becoming a magnet for endorsement deals as varied as Tag Heuer; Clear and Nike.
In so doing; he is only the third athlete in history to hit the billion-dollar mark; after golf legend Tiger Woods and boxer-supreme Floyd Mayweather. He is also ranked second on the year's Forbes sports richest list; behind only tennis great Roger Federer. David Beckham; a player probably more popular than Ronaldo but less skillful; has made only about half that amount.
