Leicester actually started like a house on fire; pressing Chelsea back with surprising doggedness; and eliciting some mistakes that nearly led to a breakthrough. Billy Gilmour; so impressive in his two earlier games against the Merseyside clubs Liverpool & Everton; was the most guilty of giving the ball away too often.
Not surprisingly; he was one of the three substituted at half-time by manager Frank Lampard; and therein saw the turn in the game. Almost immediately; the experience & skill-sets of Cesar Azpilicueta; Barkley & Mateo Kovacic made the difference as Chelsea began to wrest back control of the game.
The way the match was flowing; it was not a great surprise when the hard-working Willian; who sadly will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season; played in a lovely ball; inviting Barkley to latch on and arrow a first-time volley into the bottom corner of the net. It was a goal worthy of wining a FA Cup Quarter-Final. Next up - it's Chelsea v Manchester United at Wembley...
