Blue Monday

The hot news of the day is that Manchester City's high-profile ban from European football for two seasons has been overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). It is a decision that has been waited with bated breath in the whole of sport and has serious ramifications in a number of spheres.

The decision comes at perhaps the best time for City; fresh off an impressive 5-0 away win at Brighton & Hove Albion; and with the team in purring form since the corona restart. With the Carabao Cup already in the bag; they are going after an unprecedented Cup quadruple of FA Cup & Champions League; not forgetting the Community Shield they won at the start of the season against Liverpool.

It also affects drastically the hotly-contested chase for the UEFA Champions League & Europa League places; with the status quo now being restored of 4th place qualifying for Champions League; and perhaps 7th being enough for Europa; meaning an even-further mad scramble for the likes of Manchester United; Chelsea; Wolves; Sheffield Untied and Tottenham.

And it's certainly a big boost to all concerned at City; and the players (and manager) may now feel like staying further at the club with their European ambitions not curtailed; the likes of star players like Kevin De Bruyne; Raheem Sterling & Sergio Aguero. It would also allow them to entice further star players to join their club; with the temptation of further European competition.
