El Matador Takes Flight

Edinson Cavani came up big with two diving headers late in the game to salvage a rescue operation for Manchester United; who were 2-0 down to an inspired Southampton side for much of the afternoon.

After a bright start from the visitors; it was the Saints who struck first when an excellent corner from James Ward-Prowse was headed in by Jan Bednarek. The Saints extended the lead when Ward-Prowse curled in a brilliant free-kick past David de Gea; who was injured after colliding with the post.

United brought on Cavani in the second half for Mason Greenwood; and the difference was telling. Cavani first set up Bruno Fernandes with an accurate cross on the hour mark; and then in the final fifteen minutes; he launched himself for two spectacular diving headers to win the three points for Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's men.
