Toffees Stay Sweet

Everton struck with the very last kick of the match; with Dominic Calvert-Lewin latching on to Michael Keane's flick-on; to snatch a draw from the jaws of defeat; as Manchester United & Everton played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Old Trafford.

Things got off well for the home side; with Edinson Cavani heading home Marcus Rashford's beautifully-flighted cross in the 24th minute to open the scoring; then Bruno Fernandes scoring a long-range sizzler to double the lead on the stroke of half-time. Everton looked laborious & lethargic; and it looked like the home side were going to coast to an easy victory.

Well; Carlo Ancelotti must have thrown a few cups of tea at half-time; as his charges came out a totally different proposition. First; Abdoulaye Doucoure pounced on a mistake from David de Gea to stab in the first goal; before James Rodriguez; nearly taken off by Ancelotti after an insipid first half; suddenly found his form; rifling in a tasty second to level the scores.

United looked ruffled; but on the 70th minute; they managed to wrest back control of the game after Scott McTominay; in fine form himself in defensive midfield; managed to steer a header home past a bungling Robin Olsen in the Everton goal.

The game looked to be petering out towards a United win; until substitute Axel Tuanzebe's needless foul at the death of injury time allowed the Everton freekick; and Calvert-Lewin's late; late heroics. United miss a chance to go level on points with City; while Everton continue their stirring away form in the league.
