Fletch Celebration

Sad news came recently on the passing of Andrew Fletcher; the keyboardist of Depeche Mode; one of the biggest bands in the world who enjoyed their heyday in the 1980s and 90s.

We all remember the moment they came into being; when their seminal album Black Celebration came on and it seemed that everyone knew of it; spearheaded by the ubiquitous hit 'Stranglove'. Their unique dark sound seemed to captivate the airwaves; and before long they had reached their Imperial Phase; churning out a string of hits such as 'Never Let Me Down'; 'Enjoy The Silence' and the haunting 'Blasphemous Rumours'.

Even in their latter years; they continued to remain active; and it can be argued that hits such as 'Walking In My Shoes' and the tectonic 'Precious' were just as good as any of their earlier hits. My personal favourite of theirs has to be the rhythmic 'Enjoy The Silence'; although 'Everything Counts' and 'Shake The Disease' surely deserve a mention as well.
