Simple Formula

Simple Plan's concert in Singapore hit the right notes in terms of atmospherics. By holding it at the slightly less-popular venue of The Coliseum at Hard Rock Hotel; it was a smaller venue with a capacity of about 2000; but felt much cosier and tighter with all-standing capacity. With the pre-concert music of The Offspring & Sum 41; it got the youthful crowd right up to a frenzy even before the concert started.

While the band members were seemingly in top form; the song selection could have been a bit better; as they left out some of their biggest hits such as When I'm Gone; This Song Saved My Life and the sleeper hit No Love. On the plus side; they delivered their biggest hits in a fantastic fashion; especially the mega-hit Welcome To My Life; that was probably the high point of the concert.

Another problem was that while they performed with unmistakable energy on almost every one of their hits; it almost made the concert seem rather monotonous; with certain songs seemingly melding with each other on occasion. But another plus point was Summer Paradise; when they got creative with floating beach balls and all.
