Bees-Line To Safety

Everton secured survival for another season with a dogmatic 1-0 victory over Brentford; themselves safe from relegation after going through their best run of form recently. The Toffees are on their best run of the season themselves; with three straight home victories & three clean sheets no less. This was also by no means an easy task against a Brentford side coming off a resounding 5-1 win at Luton Town.

To be Frank; the match did have a feel of two teams who were so relieved at escaping relegation; with strange smiles in the tunnel and a rather lethargic feel echoing around the place. The atmosphere in the stands was in stark contrast to the rambunctious mood just days earlier; when the place shook to the rafters in echoing Liverpool's demise in that famous 2-0 victory.

Youssef Chermiti gained a rare start in place of the over-worked Dominic Calvert-Lewin; but it was Idrissa Gueye who became the latest goal machine; rattling in an opportunistic strike from a corner to send the fans into raptures. Sean Dyche's men have found themselves again; with the confidence now purring and the central defensive pairing of James Tarkowski & Jarrad Branthwaite in sublime form.
