The Bald Truth

Erik ten Hag has been sacked by Manchester United. Coming even before the FA Cup final; this was pure testament that whether winning it or not; the board felt that it was not enough.

To be honest; this has been a long time coming. United's drastic inconsistency this season; a 4-3 thriller against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals juxtaposed with a shambolic 4-0 hammering by Crystal Palace; seems to say it all. Old Trafford; formerly a place feared by all and where no one had a chance; has lost all of its mystique & sundry. At the end of the day; 8th in the league for a club of United's stature; is simply not good enough.

Not sure if it's his authoritative nature; or man-management skills; but ten Hag has certainly not rubbed off on his players in the right way. Times are now different from Sir Alex Ferguson's time; when maybe players were willing to be criticised abit. No matter how; the players don't seem to want to play for ten Hag; leading to lethargic performances & insipid displays at times.

Even his common refrain of injuries - such as to Luke Shaw & Lisandro Martinez - seemed to be more of a desperate excuse rather than a dose of reality. To top it all off; Jadon Sancho; a player long ostracised at United; will be playing in the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund. But perhaps the biggest symbol of United's demise is the 86-million pound Antony; a player brought by ten Hag himself from Ajax Amsterdam; who has been a colossal waste of money and form.
