The latest horror show was dished out by a rejuvenated Crystal Palace team; who are playing lively football under new manager Oliver Glasner; and are actually better than their 13th position would have you believe. Witness their effervescent football on this day; their 3-4-3 formation perfectly designed to counter the United equivalent; with their three-man defence of Maxence Lacroix; Chris Richards and Marc Guehi particularly solid.
On the other hand; United were always a step slow; unable to string their passes together; unable to make their moves; and losing all the second balls. Kobbie Mainoo was playing as a false nine and did have an early effort unluckily come off the post; but even when the real nine came on in Rasmus Hojlund & Joshua Zirkzee; it was too little too late.
In the end; it was not the greatest surprise when in-form striker Jean-Philippe Mateta pounced on the rebound after Lacroix's fantastic header over an overpowered Leny Yoro to seize Palace into the lead; and things looked especially gloomy when the impressive Ismaila Sarr played in Daniel Munoz; who squared unselfishly for Mateta to turn in Palace's second. United's revival is a far far away.
