It wasn't always like this; as their early-season form saw them stuttering around in the lower reaches of the league and tagged as relegation candidates. The difference? The arrival of Oliver Glasner. The new man has put in place an expansive 3-4-3 formation that suits Palace to a tee.
And the key to that is the 3-man defence of Maxence Lacroix; US international Chris Richards & England standout Marc Guehi. They have proven so reliable that everything flows from there. That allows their two wing-backs Daniel Munoz & Tyrick Mitchell to operate where they like to; further up the field. They are complemented by two hardworking midfielders in Colombian Jefferson Lerma & new England international Adam Wharton; who was not afraid to put his boot about in this one.
Upfront; they look terrifically balanced as well; with seminal striker Jean-Phillipe Mateta complemented on the wings by the electric Eberechi Eze & former Watford star Ismaila Sarr; thus making Palace a threat at both ends. Add to that the depth of former Liverpool right-back Nathaniel Clyne; Japanese international Daichi Kamada & the industrious Will Hughes; and you know why everyone is getting excited about Palace these days.
