A Whiter Shade Of Pale

Arsenal's Ben White was the man of the moment; first prodding home at the far post to give England the lead; before turning villain by committing a rash foul on Federico Vinas in stoppage time to hand Uruguay a penalty and salvage a 1-1 draw in a glorified friendly at Wembley before the World Cup finals 2026.

Both teams were rather cagey in this one; as they seemed more intent not to lose than actually going for the win; but England did show some nice touches from their attackers such as Noni Madueke; Marcus Rashford and substitute Cole Palmer. Shoutout also to Everton debutant James Garner; who acquitted himself well in the middle of the park; covering ground and breaking up play; as he usually does at his club Everton.

For Uruguay; they would have been delighted to come away with a draw. Managed by El Loco himself Marcelo Bielsa; they looked slightly shaky while playing out from the back; and the general feel is they are a little too reliant on their main superstar Federico Valverde. As usual; they also have a tendency for over-aggressive tackles and may lose their composure when things don't go their way. On this night though; it did.
