Cold Comfort

What's happening lah? Everton are now becoming the freakin' draw specialists of the BPL. After the latest 0-0 draw at a wintry St. Mary's Stadium with Southampton, Everton have now lost only 2 of their last 19 games in all competitions. Which sounds really good.... until you realise 10 of those 19 games have been draws!

The positive thing about this latest draw is our defensive resilience, which has seen a second successive clean sheet after the 0-0 home draw with Swansea. If you ask me, we are slowly improving defensively. Tim Howard is currently in fine form (he probably saved us from a possible defeat in this one) and the centre-back pairing of Phil Jagielka and Sylvan Distin is showing signs of tightening up. This defensive prowess will be key to our ambitions of reaching the Champions League.

For Southampton, they certainly played like a team trying to impress their manager on his debut (as is so often the case), and on this showing, look definitely good enough to avoid relegation, with skipper Rickie Lambert influential as always.
