37 Not Out

So David Beckham will not make his debut for PSG in tonight's match against Bastia. Not yet, anyway. Reports though claim that due to better-than-expected training progress, Beckham may make his debut as early as next weekend against Sochaux, rather than the originally-envisioned Cup game against Marseille on Feb 27.

So suddenly the French Ligue 1 is hot. No-one can get enough of it now. And all because of Beckham. He has signed a 5-month contract, and will be appearing in the French league and the Champions League. Can you imagine that? David Beckham back again in the Champions League. It was beyond my wildest dreams. He will be playing in a team that are real contenders. A team made mega-rich in recent times by their new, wealthy owners. With superstars like Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.

At 37 years old, Beckham is amazingly still good enough to play professional football. Pace is not an issue for him as his game has never been about pace. Rather, his game is about movement, intelligence and passing, traits which accentuate with experience. His set-pieces are still of the highest order. At PSG, he has joined a newly-rich, glamorous club in a fresh, exquisite league. An excellent choice if you ask me. The French public are now salivating at the prospect of him making his debut for the club. I can't wait too.
