Fine Dining

Tonight, I went with my girlfriend to Wendy's at Tampines Mall for dinner. It was our first time trying Wendy's and overall, I must say it was a good experience. First thing, the half-pound burger I got (which was the largest that I could find) tasted pretty good; better than McDonald's and Burger King but not as good as Carl's Junior (which looking at the price relativity, is perhaps not surprising). The fries were surprisingly nice, tasty enough and I would say on an even par with McDonald's (which I rate very highly). It is a far cry from the KFC fries, which taste really bad lah. They have two types of upsize - medium and large - which kind of caught me by surprise, and naturally I took the large one which I shared with my girlfriend.

Of course, I now usually go for the healthier alternative of Coke Light instead of Coke. Also, another plus point is the ambience and seating which is pretty good. It's a nice, medium-sized outlet with spacious arrangement and good lighting. The seats lining the side, which were the ones we got, are plush and comfortable, adding to the overall fine dining experience. Only negative perhaps is, unlike Carl's Junior, they don't practise the free re-filling counter for drinks (but maybe that's not such a bad thing after all).

Oh yes, and one more song I left out in my earlier "songs too good to be true" blog post is Berlin's 'Take My Breath Away', that mammoth hit from the Tom Cruise-movie Top Gun back in 1986 (when Diego Maradona won the World Cup for Argentina). If ever there was a song that captured the attention of the world and totally phased out the group after that, this was it. They were a serious one-hit wonder. Despite its name, Berlin is actually an American synth-pop band, comprising of six members, led my lead singer Terri Nunn (who was one of the auditioners for the Princess Leia role in Star Wars). The song was written by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whitlock, and reached No. 1 in several international charts around the world. It was also the first single released from the Top Gun soundtrack album, and till this day, remains one of the most memorable and recognisable soundtrack hits of all-time.
