The Italian Job

Over the Chinese New Year holiday period, my girlfriend, family and I had the pleasure of going to not one, but two Italian restaurants. We even went on back-to-back days (yesterday and today). They were both wonderful dinners, some of the finest Italian cuisine you will find in Singapore.

The first was Parco, located somewhere near Everton Road. It's a moderately-decorated place, and the food was wonderful. The prices are not expensive too, by the way. I enjoyed whatever food they served that night, including the pizza and chocolate mousse at the end of it. The service was good as well, which added to the fun.

Tonight, we went to posh restaurant Gattopardo, located at Hotel Fort Canning. It was a fantastic dinner: ambience, service and food were all top-drawer. The first dish, fresh oysters was good. But the second dish they served, the cold plate, was magnificent. The raw salmon was so tender and tasty, it was unbelievable. We also had linguine, pork belly and pizza, which were all pretty good. To top it all off, the dessert of 'Chocolate Threesome' was delicious as well. Even the drink I ordered, a non-alcoholic Virgin Manjito, was superb. And both types of bread they served at the start of the meal were good too. Just an outstanding gastronomic experience. The price was pretty stratospheric as well, but that's another matter. :-)
