I just love Jose Mourinho, and the way he always comes up with brilliant, unique quotes just when the time calls for it. His latest is another beauty, proclaiming the upcoming Champions League Round of 16 tie with Manchester United as a match the whole world is waiting for. He's absolutely right, there.
So the time has come upon us. One of the greatest matches ever to be played in the history of world football. Real Madrid and Manchester United. It doesn't get any bigger than this, baby. The match of the century. A phenomenal, spectacular fireworks of a match. Everything rolled into one. The sub-plots are all there, bamboozling everybody. Absolute beauty and sophistication. This is it. baby. Cristiano Ronaldo, the second-best player on Planet Earth (or is Messi from outer space?:-)). The man who has scored 182 goals in 179 matches for Real. That's more than a goal a game, my brother. God would be proud. Robin van Persie, the player of the Premiership. Phenom of a goal-scorer. The Difference between Man Utd and Man City claiming the BPL crown. What a match this is going to be.
And we have to talk about the managers. Jose Mourinho, the most charismatic, charming and intelligent coach of them all. The 'Special One', no less. You can just see that arrogant smirk of a face. Brilliant. And Sir Alex Ferguson, the greatest manager in the history of world football, keen to add another Champions League title to what is considered by some as the best team in the world right now, Manchester United. By the way, the two managers are friends, so if really the match ends up in fisticuffs and histrionics on the sidelines, we can be relatively sure that the two pals will kiss and make up at the end of it all. Which is nice, I guess.
But Cristiano Ronaldo against his former club. This is the first time he is facing the Red Devils since his move from Real in 2009. Nobody can wait for this. He is in the form of his life. Even Sir Alex has declared that he is in the "peak of his career", definitely a better player now than when he was at United. No human being has the fitness, the speed, the goal-scoring prowess, as this man. What will he deliver in this match? Will he be able to win it for Real? It's gonna be a good game. It's gonna be one hell of a game. The world is watching.
