Ladies and Gentlemen, let's be Frank about it. Frank Lampard is one of my favourite football players. Always has, and always will. There's something charismatic about him - maybe the way he plays, his silent leadership or maybe simply his cool demeanour (like the various ways he celebrates his goals).
He has been a legend at Chelsea for a long time now, and even at age 35, is showing no signs of slowing down. His patented ability of ghosting into the box late when no-one seems to see him (except the television viewer), is perhaps his most potent trait; and he did it again in last nite's 2-0 home win over fierce London rivals West Ham, which happens to be Lampard's first club. It was also his 200th goal for Chelsea, setting an impressive landmark for a midfielder.
It was the icing on the cake for an overall sumptuous performance by Chelsea, headlined by the increasingly-lethal Belgian superstar Eden Hazard. This guy is proving all the earlier hype about him is fully justified, and then some. I think this guy is showing legend potential. His footballing brain, dazzling feet and superb sense of balance is something different. He showed Messi-esque skills in this game.
Together with Juan Mata and Oscar, they could turn Chelsea into the 'Barcelona of England'.... a team blessed with physical toughness and yet sublime and devastating offensive wizardry. The world should be afraid.
