What In The Universe?

There was a recent furore about the Miss Singapore Universe dress that our winner is going to wear at the grand pageant. Seems it was designed by quite a young bloke who's not exactly a household name. Seems a lot of people don't quite like it and say that it's too plain, it's too outlandish, it's too fake or whatever.

Personally, I really don't think it's that bad. The big fan behind actually makes it look quite unusual if you ask me... so I don't quite see what the fuss is all about... Some people were saying that the designer of such an important costume should be a big star or someone senior or stuff like that, but I seriously don't quite think so.... To me, as long as you're good enough, it doesn't really matter how old or how famous you are. So I guess sometimes Singaporeans just like to complain about anything under the sun, and some of it is turning out to be quite redundant or meaningless to be frank.

But I think I read recently somewhere that just about 30 people applied for the Miss Singapore Universe and 24 got to the grand finals.... That's quite a joke leh... looks like no-one is really interested eh? So only 6 people didn't get to the finals.... that's not very prestigious leh... So maybe that's why it seems the standard seems to be dropping.... Seems like no sponsors, no publicity, no nothing.....

But I'm afraid the recent F1 Singapore Grid Girls are nothing to shout about too.... I saw some of their adverts for voting and frankly, they don't really look good, they can't talk very well and they look quite stiff and artificial in their interviews... They came on during the advertisement breaks while watching football, and frankly when they were screening, I couldn't wait for the football to come back on again..... Not very good.
