The One And Only

There have been lots of 'One-Hit Wonders' throughout the years in the music world. Which is your favourite? For me, Chesney Hawkes' brilliantly-aptly titled 'The One And Only' just shades Dexys Midnight Runners' disco epic 'Come On Eileen'... also a shout-out to Vanilla Ice's 'Ice Ice Baby'; Chumbawamba's 'Tubthumping'; Standfast's 'Carcrashes'; Berlin's 'Take My Breath Away' and Baltimora's retro epic 'Tarzan Boy'...

Standfast were actually touted to be the next Roxette... which was a big claim indeed... and they started off on the right note with the brilliantly catchy 'Carcrashes'; unfortunately the melodies seemed to stop for the duo and they faded into oblivion soon after...

But I totally disagree with people who think that a-ha's 'Take On Me' was a one-hit wonder... that's like saying Michael Jordan can 'just play basketball'... to me; they already had two standout hits 'The Sun Always Shines On TV' & 'Stay On These Roads'; with follow-ups such as 'Hunting High & Low' and 'I've Been Losing You' and a whole host of hits after that... to me, they are frankly one of the greatest bands ever and as far from a one-hit wonder as can be lol...
