The Serge Is Over

Looks like Tottenham's problems are really serious... getting thrashed 7-2 at home by Bayern Munich... I  mean; I know Bayern are the team to look out for this season but this is ridiculous! How did a team that did so well last season flounder so badly this time around?...

But if you trace back to last season; you could see Spurs were getting tired in the later part of the season already... and something wasn't quite right... they managed to miraculously get to the Champions League final... but their overall form from then leading into this season has been quite bad... and the Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen saga is exactly how you should avoid this situation of players wanting to leave, etc... Mauricio Pochettino surprisingly doesn't seem to be in control of the situation and you've got to wonder what's happening there...

But the man of the moment was Serge Gnabry; who scored four goals in that match... this is the latest rags-to-riches story... a man unwanted by Arsenal... went on loan to West Bromwich Albion and was discarded there as well... and came back to the Bundesliga somehow a man transformed; winning Bayern's Player of the Season last season and continuing a meteoric rise for both club and country in this campaign. It is a fantastic story of someone seemingly with no hope; rising from the ashes to become a proven star on the biggest stage.
