In another contest between two Western Conference heavy-weights, the Houston Rockets beat the Los Angeles Clippers 102-93 at the Toyota Center; spearheaded by a stellar performance from MVP-candidate James Harden and an overall vigorous performance. And as this seismic match culminated towards the totemic fourth quarter, it did have a NBA Playoffs-type feel to it.
The Clippers had a poor first half but bucked up in the second; while it was actually the reverse for the Rockets. But try as they might; the Clippers could not repel the relentless Houston onslaught; with Harden hitting some crucial threes down the stretch to seal the deal.
But maybe one of the most 'comical' moments of this season was Houston reserve guard Austin Rivers seemingly egging his father; Clippers' head coach Doc Rivers; to get ejected by the referees late in the game after a somewhat ambiguous confrontation. I really like Doc Rivers - he's got this always-frowning; always-serious; Man Against The World demeanour that you just gotta like lol... I liked him as a 6"4' point-guard for the Atlanta Hawks; and I like him now as a coach.
