Despite the scoreline, this was not an easy game for the Los Angeles Clippers. At the start, they seemed determined to erase the memory of that Milwaukee Bucks blowout by coming out strong. And you could see the intensity in their play. However, the Washington Wizards were unperturbed; coming back steadily to run it a close game.
At the start of the third quarter, it was the same again. The Clippers came out blazing; backed by strong play from Kawhi Leonard; and were able to establish a decent lead. But again the Wizards; backed by some unconscious shooting from Davis Bertans; came back again to peg the Clippers back.
In the end, the visitors had to rely on all their know-how and expertise to get the job done. And the victory was marked by a stunning play from their superb reserve Montrezl Harrell; who in an unbelievable sequence; faced up his opponent on the corner left baseline; then proceeded to do a nifty cross-over and swinging slam that put an exclamation point on this victory. It was the latest in a string of scene-stealers from Harrell; who is proving to be one heck of a player.
