United Earn Their Spurs

I thot this was one of Manchester United's best performances of the season. Spurred by an outstanding performance from Marcus Rashford on the left-wing, United produced a compelling, convincing all-round performance to beat a Tottenham Hotspur side riding high on the Mourinho wave; with three victories on the trot in all competitions.

Rashford did just about everything; scoring the first with a long-range shot that squirmed past Paulo Gazzaniga off the post; then winning the penalty and scoring it early in the second half after Dele Alli had equalised with a typical sublime piece of skill. Rashford also brought out a stupendous save from Gazzaniga with another long-range screamer midway through the first-half; and his constant forays down the left were threatening Spurs all night.

Spurs were strangely subdued in this one; it was not one of their best games for sure. Their front three of Kane, Son & Moura were surprisingly kept quiet; as United stamped their authority on the match with pride and conviction. Fred had probably his best game in a Manchester United shirt; harrying and scrambling all-over in an energetic display; and his partnership with the returning Scott McTominay in the heart of the United midfield was central to their success.
