Solo King

All hail Robbie Williams; who has equaled the King of Rock & Roll himself - Elvis Presley - with the most number of British No. 1 albums by a solo artist... certainly no mean feat. The 13 solo albums are matched with 4 from his days as a member of Take That of course.

You got to give him credit; after all, it is not easy to establish yourself as a solo artist after being in a band. From *N SYNC; Justin Timberlake could do it cause he was so talented; and Ronan Keating had the voice from Boyzone. But from Backstreet Boys; even such a solid singer as Nick Carter couldn't quite do it. Also Brian McFadden from Westlife who failed miserably and never re-joined the band later; Nick Lachey also never quite did it as a solo singer after 98 Degrees; and even Victoria Beckham never quite made it as a solo act after the Spice Girls dis-banded.

I think Williams was able to combine a charismatic stage presence with a unique personality and some brilliant song-writing; with his song 'Angels' really catapulting him to the big time. I think that song was so good; there was only gonna be one way up from that point on; and 'Better Man' and 'Supreme' followed there-after to cement his status.
