The reviews got it right: Jay Chou's recent concert at the National Stadium was a massive success. It was different from other concerts in many ways; and that was the outstanding thing for me. Right at the get-go; every participant is given a nice illuminating stick that looks more high-class than the usual ones. The remote controls even control the colour of light it emits; thus orchestrating the whole stadium into a sea of cascading colours. There was also a 'music jukebox' item during the middle of the concert; as members of the audience got to randomly choose a number on this 'Wheel of Fortune' thingy; which led to Jay performing a song associated with it. But the best part for me was when he picked out a random member of the audience to converse with; as it felt like he was conversing with the entire crowd. His sincerity and candidness really shone through. Add to that his spellbinding catalogue of hits from start to finish; which included favourites like 'Silence'; 'Give Me The Time Of One Song' and my personal favourite 'Common Jasmine Orange'. Overall, it confirmed my 20-year suspicion: Jay Chou is indeed the Michael Jackson of Chinese pop.
