Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United played out a gritty, if somewhat uninspiring goal-less draw in the FA Cup Third Round at Molineux. The intensity was there; just that the chances were not. United hardly had anything to show for their efforts; with second-half substitute Marcus Rashford coming closest with a shot that was brilliantly blocked by Conor Coady onto the crossbar.
For Wolves; they did have the better of it; with left-winger Pedro Neto outstanding. They created a few good chances; notably an early chance for Matt Doherty that was brilliantly saved by Sergio Romero; and then substitute Raul Jimenez went on a typically strong run before striking the post from an impossibly-acute angle. The roving Doherty himself nearly continued an excellent season by heading home a beautiful cross from substitute Jonny; however, he inexplicably managed to head it against his arm when it looked easier to score.
At the end of it all; we look forward to a Third Round replay at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's men have to find another way to get past this tough pack of Wolves.
