As buddy-cop movies go; Spenser Confidential is a pretty decent affair starring the irrepressible Mark Wahlberg as a Boston cop gunning for justice. The story delves into how an intriguing mix of murder, drugs and corruption in the police force mesh together to create a potent mix of violence and mayhem. As tough guys go; they don't come much tougher than Wahlberg; and he is at his bravado best in this one; punching and smashing his way through all comers; with his boxing background a useful asset. He is ably assisted by sidekick Hawk; an unlikely room-mate turned ally; who uses his considerable physicality to good effect as well. In the end, the moral of the story lies in the unquenchable desire for justice; even when all thoughts and actions seemingly come to no end; the belief for justice is what prevails in the end. Aided by a classy performance by Alan Arkin and stunning cameo from Post Malone, this movie is very watchable fare indeed.
