In the midst of this 'favourable' streak; the Los Angeles Clippers started a bit shakily against the Detroit Pistons but quickly regained control; en route to a comprehensive 126-112 victory over their Eastern Conference rivals.
The Clippers started pretty poorly; throwing loose entry passes and the like; from which the visiting Pistons capitalised into points off turnovers. The last thing u wanna do is give a struggling underdog confidence; and that's exactly what they did. The Pistons; spurred by the energetic former MVP Derrick Rose off the bench; surprised the Clippers with a tough and energetic showing to surge ahead midway through the half.
Before you could blink though; the home team suddenly roared back to life. Punctuated by a rare five-point play midway through the second quarter; the Clippers gained back their usual swagger and never looked back. Sixth Man of the Year candidate Montrezl Harrell; who was under the weather recently and coming off an average game against the Sacramento Kings; came out swinging in this one; produing his patented defensive performance and thundering slams to inspire the Clippers. Lou Williams and Kawhi Leonard came up strong as well; more than negating the injury-stricken Paul George; who did not come out for the second half; and before you knew it; the Clippers had established a 27-point lead after three quarters with the game all but over.
