The Son Always Shines On TV

When you're talking about best goals ever scored; I guess you could look at Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung Min's wondrous effort against Burnley in the Premier League this season. For those who haven't seen it; I suggest that you do. He picked up the ball just outside his OWN penalty area; and went on a fantastic; lung-bursting run past the entire Burnley defence to score a quite-miraculous goal. It was probably the closest thing to Maradona that u will ever see. It's not that the Burnley players didn't have the intention to stop him. They did. Many times. It's just that every time they tried; they couldn't get close or forceful enough to tackle him. Before they knew it; they were behind his jet-heeled propulsion.

The greatest goal I have ever seen in my life has to be Diego Maradona's solo effort against England in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. It was not just the slaloming run past Peter Reid (sadly); Terry Fenwick and everyone else. It was the gravity of the occasion. This was a huge quarter-final with the whole world watching; and he had just hand-balled that unforgettable goal to put Argentina 1-0 up (when the world word saw it except the referee). I'll always remember THAT dummy he did at the end of that run on Peter Shilton; when I saw it, I remember thinking: that's it now.

I also want to give mention to Ryan Giggs' never-to-be-forgotten barnstormer against Arsenal in the 1999 FA Cup Semi-Final. You almost thought there was no way United could have won that one; and the only way they could have done it: was through that miraculous goal. Once he scored that you knew there was no way back for Arsenal; and it kind of encapsulated that magical 1998-99 season when they won the treble.

Other 'honourable mention' ones are Esteban Cambiasso's 26-pass sizzler for Argentina against Serbia at the 2006 World Cup; Zinedine Zidane's picture-perfect left-foot volley for Real Madrid in the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final against Bayer Leverkusen; and Zlatan 'I Am Football' Ibrahimovic's ridiculous long-range overhead kick for Sweden against England back in 2012.

So: which is your favourite goal of all-time?
