Nyland Left in No-Man's Land

100 days. That was the break between the last Premiership match and the now newly-reopened Premiership. And we are all so happy to have it back. The first match was between Aston Villa & Sheffield United; and Villa actually played pretty well in this one. They managed to generally cut out the defensive deficiencies they have experienced all season; except for one controversial incident where Orjan Nyland accidentally bundled the ball into his own net; after an accidental collision with his own player Keinan Davis.

The goal-line technology obviously did not work; as Michael Oliver's beeper didn't get buzzed. Now this is important: as if you have technology; you've got to make sure it works; as the refs are depending on it. At first glance; it may have been hard to tell if the ball did cross the line; but on relay; it was quite obvious it did. Which then leads to the second and third question: why wasn't VAR consulted? And did the assistant referee manage to catch the occasion?
