Red Pill Blues

Liverpool; on the cusp of their first championship in 30 years; put up a surprisingly lacklustre display in the biggest of all games - the Merseyside Derby - but credit to Everton; they played surprisingly well and were rock-soild in defence; in particular Michael Keane whose positioning was first-class.

For all their possession; Liverpool could not really create any clear-cut chances; with Naby Keita's cross-shot and a last-ditch Fabinho free-kick probably their most note-worthy chances. In fact; it was Everton who came closest to breaking the deadlock; when a nifty move started by Andre Gomes ended with Dominic Calvert-Lewin producing a Ronaldinho-like left flick that was saved by Alisson; before Tom Davies hit the post on the rebound after a great block from substitute Joe Gomez.
