Perhaps surprisingly; it was Team World who came out firing; taking a decisive lead into the second half of this contest as they out-paced Team USA in both skill & endeavour. But come the second half; the tide would suddenly shift as both sides started to get serious.
Behind the MVP play of Miles Bridges; Team USA totally took control in the second half to turn the game around; tightening up on defence and sprinting clear on numerous occasions to dazzle the crowd with some highlight plays and rim-rattling alley-oops.
And in true All-Star style; there were some unforgettable plays in this one. Zion Williamson dunked one so hard that the rim literally moved to one side in Shaquille O'Neal-style and needed proper court re-construction during the time-out. And Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic; on some cajoling from Trae Young; threw in a 60-footer that brought the ooohs from the crowd.
But perhaps the greatest moment of the night came right at he end and was left to NBA superstar-in-waiting Williamson; when the whole court (and the world) left him wide open to perform some Dominique-style Slam Dunk Contest-worthy efforts. Alas; it was not to be as perhaps his long-distance travel jet-lag; overall tiredness; or simply the weight of the occasion; saw him missing all three of his super-human efforts.
