Gunning For Victory

Arsenal produced a major upset by out-gunning Manchester City 2-0 at Wembley in the FA Cup Semi-Final. They produced one of their best performances in recent times; taking their rare chances while producing a defensive masterclass to thwart Josep Guardiola's expectant side.

Conversely; it was one of the worst performances I've seen from City; who had the possession but didn't seem to know what to do with it. On too many times; they played the wrong ball and couldn't find the killer pass when needed to. David Luiz; who had a torrid outing the last time these two sides played in a shambolic 3-0 reverse for Arsenal; had a defensive masterclass today; with his positioning and clearances vital for the Arsenal.

He was helped in no small part by his defensive colleagues Shkrodan Mustafi and Kieran Tierney; as well as huge performances from the central midfield duo of Dani Ceballos & Granit Xhaka. In the end; it was their lethal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; who had already missed a gilt-edged chance; who finished well for his two goals; products of brilliant passes from Nicolas Pepe & Tierney.
