The Invincibles

The 'Invincibles' tag is one not easily bandied about. In fact, probably only the impregnable Arsenal team of 2003-04 can claim that tag after going through the entire season unbeaten. In fact; it got to a point nearing the end when you just knew they were not going to lose - such was the momentum and belief they had that you knew opponents were not gonna stand a chance...

Now; it is the German champions Bayern Munich who are looking at that tag for getting a 100% record in the whole Champions League season; a very rare achievement indeed. In the group stages; they not just won but pulverised teams such as Tottenham Hostpur and the exploits continued in the knock-out stages; beating Chelsea 7-1 on aggregate; Barcelona 8-2 in the quarter-finals and hammering Lyon 3-0 in the semis.

As such; they are rightly installed as favourites for the final and have an 'Invincible' quality about them. Perhaps the only weakness I can see is when they press high up with a high line of defence; their central defensive pairing of Jerome Boateng & David Alaba can be susceptible to the pace of quick breaks. But the energy of their pressing and overall cohesion of their team play mean they are likely contenders for their second-ever treble in their history.
