This is a hugely-anticipated match for all Everton fans; as for the first time in like a gazillion years; this really looks like an Everton team that can go places. I mean we've seen it all before; false dawns; moments of brilliance followed by moments of capitulation; great players signed that were supposed to bring about greatness; but never materialised.
We have signed the likes of Davy Klaassen; Ibrahima Bakayoko; Samuel Eto'o; Yannick Bolasie; Gylfi Sigurdsson; Sandro Ramirez; Morgan Schneiderlin ... all supposed to herald great things; but somehow their form seemed to crumble while at Everton; leading all to wonder what exactly is wrong at this club.
But now finally; things look to be really different. This time; it doesn't just look like promise and a hope that things will get better. This time; we really do look good; and the players we have and way we're playing seems like we're really primed for greatness.
These three new signings look like really good players; unlike the tons that have passed by before; and they are really living up to their potential; whether it's James Rodriguez's passing; Allan's positioning ability and Abdoulaye Doucoure's all-out drive. Suddenly; their greatness has made everyone look like a superstar; from Seamus Coleman to Andre Gomes. And to top it off; we have a serial-winning manager Carlo Ancelotti to boot; probably the greatest manager this club has ever got.
The future has never looked brighter at Everton; and a scarcely-believable 5 straight wins to open the season has filled optimism to the rafters at Goodison Park.
