The Teenage Textbook Movie is a brilliant 1998 movie from Singapore. I think where it does best is its strike at nostalgia; brilliantly crafted to bring you back to JC days: from the mixed uniforms of the first three months; to nervous phone calls; and the ubiquitous Perfect 10 98.7 & Glenn Ong; which everyone seemed to be listening to at that time.
The plot also hits the nail on the head: touching on that crucial element of meeting that handsome guy and falling in first love at 17; only to find out he is the classic womanizer and the 'blur sotong' is actually the much better fit for you.
The acting is also superb; led by the innocent Melody Chen and pretty Sissy Song; with the 'playboy' Randall Wong and naive Caleb Goh; who manage to bring out the poignant story-telling to its full. After 22 years; I have finally watched this movie. And I'm glad I did.
