Certainly Everton have had some major signings in recent years... but not all have turned out well let's put it that way. There was Morgan Schneiderlin... one of the top midfielders in the world signed by Manchester United... and we were all excited to see him here. Well he has gone from decent; to serviceable... to plain old useless... such that many fans were only too happy to see him sent off to Nice rather unceremoniously just a few weeks ago.
There was Gylfi Sigurdsson; truly one of the best midfielders in the world; an attacking midfielder with unparalleled skill and verve; a living legend for Iceland; we were all so happy to get him for 50million pounds from Swansea; and we thought we were going to rule the world. Well he has gone from decent; to average; to plain right suspect... you get the drift. There are many fans now who would love to see him go; such has been his passenger and ineffectual displays in the middle of the park.
And there have been others such as Theo Walcott; Alex Iwobi & Moise Kean; all brought in for rather big money and all seemed exciting at the time; but so far have been rather disappointing and not worth the high wages. But this time promises to be different/. Allan is such a top quality player that I am seriously excited by this prospect. I have seen him play for Napoli and he looks superb in the middle of the park. Always probing; controlling the game; setting his team in motion. Frankly; he is a player I always thought would be out of Everton's reach. And the fact that we can now sign him could be a sign that we are heading for bigger and better things.
