Heroes & Villans

Tonite another interesting match awaits... the perfect team in the Premiership... the only one at that... Aston Villa; with an unbelievable four wins out of four; including a mind-boggling 7-2 victory over champions Liverpool; take on newly-promoted Leeds United; themselves having a strong run in the Premiership & currently lying in 10th place.

Can Dean Smith's side keep their perfect run going and surge to the top of the table? It is quite unbelievable as this is a team that barely survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last season; literally on the very last day and results went in their favour. In fact; many people had predicted them to go down for much of the season; such was the sorry state they were in.

But I always knew they were a good team. Even in the Championship play-offs the season before last; I told myself this was a team too strong to go down; and I was proved right; but only just. You see last season was bad for them because they had too much defensive dis-organisation; some shambolic defending & mistakes. Towards the later part; you could see they figured it out; had organised themselves and tightened up considerably; and now they're showing their true colours.

They have strengthened themselves over the summer; bringing in star striker Ollie Watkins from Brentford and recently Ross Barkley on loan from Chelsea; a player with something to prove for both club & country. New signing Matty Cash has proven to be money in the bank; and they are further bolstered by the signing of Bertrand Traore; an exciting Burkino Faso international who was previously at Chelsea; while new goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has been an inspired signing from Arsenal. The fact that they have players such as Anwar El Ghazi and Ahmed Elmohamady on the bench shows what a strong and finely-tuned squad they actually have.
