In Their Defence

There were times when the fixture 'Manchester United v Chelsea' was the golden highlight of English football: the two teams at the top of it all; gunning for greatness; gunning for titles. That was the time when the Chelsea of Gianfranco Zola; Celestine Babayaro; and Tore Andre Flo were the new 'upstarts' of the game; battling Man United at the pinnacle of English football.

Those times are gone. Currently; we have two teams who are TRYING to reach the peak; trying to battle the likes of favourites Liverpool & Manchester City and trying not to look too stupid while doing it. You have here two teams who are rather poor in defence; thus this fixture seemed to be two teams who were just trying not to concede; rather than making any flamboyant attacking ambitions.

We did see Edouard Mendy make a tumultuous back-pass that would have put Kepa Arrizabalaga to shame; so close to scoring an own goal. But we did also see the new Chelsea 'keeper pull off a few remarkable saves; notably the last-ditch one against Marcus Rashford.
