Could this be a slight sign of desperation for United; as in almost any signing will do; just to appease everyone? There's no denying that fans were getting more than a little disgruntled after only signing Donny van de Beek in the off-season; with the impending search for Jadon Sancho seemingly hitting a road-block. The fact is: after this coronavirus episode; there is simply not much money at United; and even the greatest club in the world has been battered financially. It is all a far cry from the Fergie yester-years; when players would be dying to play for United; and they could get the likes of Roy Keane; Ruud van Nistelrooy and Jaap Stam almost at will.

Sign Of Desperation?
Manchester United's recent signing of Edinson Cavani raises a few questions: (1) With 4 proven forwards in Anthony Martial; Bruno Fernandes; Mason Greenwood & Marcus Rashford; surely this was the last area needed to strengthen? Plus 3 more back-up in Odion Ighalo; Jesse Lingard & Daniel James... (2) Surely; defence is the greater worry for United right now? Especially after the recent 1-6 capitulation against Tottenham. Of the four new signings by United on deadline day; only one is a defender; a left-back at that in Alex Telles. (3) Cavani; although a great player in his prime; could his stock be slowly decreasing now at age 33? He wasn't exactly on everyone's radar and in fact has been without a club since leaving PSG in June; albeit having to consider his very high wages. The jury is still out whether he will be more Zlatan Ibrahimovic (good) or more Radamel Falcao or Alexis Sanchez (not so good).
