Stealing The Show

It is really nice to have that favourite actor whereby you will just flock to whichever movie he is acting is; regardless of the quality; review or plot of the show. Well for me; that person is Liam Neeson. I must admit: I didn't watch a single minute of Schindler's List; the show that more or less propelled him to global stardom. I did watch Rob Roy; and quite liked him then.

But it was only after watching Taken that I was well; Taken by him. That action-packed show was such a success; it spawned two indisputable sequels on the crest of box-office super-stardom. Maybe it's the inimitable speaking drawl; the grizzled 'veteran' status; or the lung-busting action chops he delivers; but there was just something iconic about his role in the show; maybe similar to Donnie Yen's portrayal of Ip Man. A true franchise was born.

And since then; practically any movie with the name Liam Neeson on it; I have felt quite compelled to watch. Especially the similar Taken-style harrowing; death-defying; dramatic man-on-the-run types as has seemed his trademark: as seen in movies such as Unknown; Non-Stop; Run All Night, The Commuter & Cold Pursuit.

As such; it was quite joy that his most recent movie 'Honest Thief' has somehow slithered its way to No. 1 in the box-office; ahead of such more acclaimed shows as Christopher Nolan's Tenet. There's no getting away with the fact that I'll be watching it once it comes out.
