It was manager Carlo Ancelotti who came up big; setting up a deep-lying defence to negate the space & pace of Leicester flyers Jamie Vardy; Harvey Barnes & Cengiz Under. In this way; he could also play centre-backs Mason Holgate & Ben Godfrey in the full-back positions to replace Seamus Coleman & Lucas Digne; and the team becomes immensely big & physical in the process.
Richarlison; maybe Everton's best player and a revelation this season; cut in from the customary left and unleashed a shot that fortunately found its way past Leicester captain Kasper Schmeichel; it was not the Danish 'keeper's finest hour.
And Everton's size advantage paid off midway through the second half when Mason Holgate slammed home the rebound after some chaos in the box that saw Schmeichel pull off two wondrous reflex saves from Michael Keane & Dominic Calvert-Lewin from a Gylfi Sigurdsson corner.
Ancelotti did another masterstroke in switching the flanks of Iwobi & Richarlison midway through the match; allowing the more defensive-minded Iwobi to monitor the tracks of the marauding Under and James Justin on the Leicester right flank.
